HCG Diet

Okay, so I was gonna wait until the 30 days were up to write this post, but due to high reader demand I'm writing now! I started the HCG diet two weeks ago today. And I wouldn't have done it without seeing others successfully complete the plan! I knew about five people who had lost an amazing amount of weight in a short amount of time. I was extremely wary at first, though. When I saw that they kept the weight off, seemed energetic and were enthusiastic about HCG, I decided to jump on the bandwagon.

Here's a little history:

"In 1927, researchers discovered that pregnant women's urine contained a substance not normally present outside of pregnancy: human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG. This represented the first modern pregnancy test, and to this day, we still check urine for signs of hCG to determine pregnancy. Doctors also look at hCG levels (among other factors) in pregnant women to assess risk of birth defect.

It was during research in the 1950s when one doctor, A.T.W. Simeons, noticed that boys being treated with hCG for underdeveloped gonads were also able to lose excess weight by eating much less without any accompanying hunger pangs. His interest in hCG soon shifted to its potential as a diet aid, and he published a paper touting its effects, as well as developing a dietary regimen for use of the drug as a weight-loss tool."

Sounds kinda weird, huh? HCG can be administered in injections or drops. I chose DROPS. You can order them off of Ebay for around $30 for a 30 (or 40?) day supply (thanks for the advice, Tay!).

I've tried lots of diets before. And I am SO happy with this one so far! I've lost ten pounds in thirteen days. Usually dieters lose 1/2- 1 pound per day. Here's the catch: you have to combine the drops (three times a day under the tongue) with a 500 calorie diet. When I heard this part of the plan I almost died. But it hasn't been bad at all!! I am never starving, ever. I feel a lot more energetic, actually. I've been taking it easy with the work outs though. My main goal is to burn fat so I'm staying away from weights and focusing on some light-moderate cardio. I don't want my body to overdo it.

So, I have two more weeks until I'm done. My goal weight is only 5 pounds away but I think I'm going to see if I can finish off the two weeks and lose a little more.

The biggest question I get: what do you eat? Well, thanks to fellow dieters advice, I got some tips. You can have two fruits a day from a short list. I usually do 8 strawberries and an apple. You can also do two servings of veggies a day. I love my edamame! For lunch and dinner, lean meats are important and filling. I usually have turkey wraps with fresh lettuce, tomato and a few slices of turkey. Filling and yummy! Chicken breast and small amounts of beef are good too. We've had a few BBQ's and I usually just wrap some meat in lettuce!! You can have all the diet soda you want, which is helping me survive. I also bought some fruit popsicles which are 25 calories and have served as my "dessert." I am not going to pretend like I don't miss sweets. And Mexican food.

Also, HCG is supposed to make you a little moody but I feel totally fine, which is weird. I actually think it's sort of leveled me out. I'm going to be one happy pregnant lady!

If you have any questions, just ask! I promise you this is safe. And I promise you I am fine! I am not going overboard and I don't look like a skeleton. My tummy is flat, my face and body look skinnier. LOVE IT. Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement!
